Kids who have poor relationships with their mother are more likely to be obese as they reach their teenage years. This is according to the researchers who followed nearly 1,000 children into their teens. New Painkiller 10 Times Stronger than Vicodin Could Lead to Abuse

Pharmaceutical companies are at the final stages of the development of a painkiller that would be ten times stronger than Vicodin. Addiction experts are worried that this could lead to a new wave of abuse. Four companies have started patient testing on drugs that contain pure version of hydrocodone. Zogenix of San Diego plans to apply early next year to start releasing its product in the market. The Food and Drug Administration said that people should double check the label on acetaminophen before giving it to an infant or child. This should be done to avoid giving the wrong dosage. 12 Swine Flu Cases in Five States Reported to CDC

The CDC received reports of twelve cases of human infected with swine flu or A(H3N2) virus. The cases came from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maine, Iowa, and Indiana. Eleven of the cases were minors. Half of the cases had not been exposed to swine according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Hepatitis B Vaccine Suggested for Adults with Diabetes

The US Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices released new guidelines stating that hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The vaccination should be given as soon as the person aged 19 to 59 is diagnosed with diabetes. Unvaccinated adults with diabetes who are older than 59 years of age can receive hepatitis B vaccine if the doctor advises it.
