Health Insurance is fundamentally needed for peace of mind. If you have proper insurance, you need not worry for accident or sudden illness because whatever happens you are sure that you and your family will be taken care of.
As the 44th President of the USA , Obama- in his very first year of Presidency- vowed to provide healthcare stability and security for all Americans making health insurance cost lower and affordable to all sections of the society. In his budget speech of 2010, Obama has made it amply clear that at $2.2 trillion per year and 16% of total economy, USA spends almost $8000 per person. Still large numbers of families are one accident or illness away from financial ruin.
The salient features of the Obama healthcare plan are as follows: -
• As one of his first acts, Obama signed Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act on 4th Feb’09 to provide quality health care to 11 million kids by 2013- 4 million more that were previously uninsured.
• As part of Recovery Act 2009, the administration will provide a Tax credit to about 7 million Americans who lose jobs or lost jobs recently to maintain health insurance through COBRA subsidy.
• Under Recovery Act, $19 billion will be invested over five years in computerization of healthcare medical records. This step will prevent medical errors, improve health care quality, reduce health care costs and modernize American health care system.
• To help physicians to get latest information on medical research and new medicines, $1.1 billion have been earmarked, also under Recovery Act, to improve the health care performance.
• The Recovery Act also provides $1 billion for expanding community-based interventions to reduce chronic diseases through preventive and wellness measures.
• Another $500 million has been allotted under Recovery Act for health workforce to train next generation of Nurses and Doctors.
Finally $630 billion have been reserved in the budget financing health care reforms for the next ten years.
