It is no need to say how walking can be beneficial for one’s health. The other question is how to start it. Indeed, not everyone is quite ready for taking on physical activity. Some people are old enough, others – have not done any physical exercises since…In other words it was very long ago.
So if you belong to the classes of people mentioned above, you can take these simple advices. And very soon you will be walking as if you have walked for all your life.
The first thing you do need is your desire. If you really want something, you will achieve it. Avoid the thoughts of the looser that “this is above my bend”. Just begin. Starting is half the battle. But of course do not be to optimistic about your results if you have been leading a sedentary way of life for quite a long period of time. So do not expect too much. Your start will be slow and you will be able to go only for short distances.
The second thing is to find the place where you can walk peacefully without being interrupted. This can be the place around your block or running tracks near any school. A lot of people adore walking in parks.
The third rule concerns time you spend on your walking. You should not pay much attention on the distance you overcome, but notice how much time you spend. Plan this time carefully. Do not worry if the period seems too short. 2-5 minutes every day is a good beginning. Gradually that time will increase.
Then you can increase your time by thirty seconds to one minute until you are able to have a 10 minute walk. Do not be upset if you cannot increase you time as quickly as you’d like to. After you reach 10 minutes, the increases can become a little longer. Nevertheless, you should try to increase your time by 5 minutes each week.
If you have trained enough to be able to walk 45 minutes every day, you can work on your speed and difficulty. Try different routes, for example, include hills and declines into your program.
