As you can see from the origin of the word “hyperhidrosis” (‘hidrosis’ means perspiration and the meaning of ‘hyper’ is too much) is a medical condition that is characterized with excessive sweating in different parts of humans bodies. Hyperhidrosis is a disease and it needs to be treated though quite a lot of people consider their condition not serious and do not visit a doctor. A great number of people view hyperhidrosis as a kind of severe sweat problem rather than an illness they suffer.
That is why in order people could know some main facts about hyperhidrosis, we will tell in the following article about its types. Generally, the doctors can separate two general types of the disease. Hyperhidrosis can be primary and secondary. We will give a brief description of each type. The type of hyperhidrosis can also be determined by the areas of the body where it can progress. There are four main parts of human body that usually tend to have primary hyperhidrosis. They are face, underarms, hands and feet.
Primary hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating the reason of which is not the reaction to other medical conditions or any drugs. It can be also named as focal hyperhidrosis as it can be seen on focal (or specific) parts of the human body. The most usual places for focal hyperhidrosis are face, underarms, hands and feet.
Secondary Hyperhidrosis is viewed as the type of excessive sweating that is usually caused by an unrelated medical condition (for example, menopause) or is a side effect of some drug or briefly saying, everything that primary hyperhidrosis is not. It can also be called as generalized hyperhidrosis. The main difference between primary and secondary hyperhidrosis is that the second one makes people to feel sweating on ‘generalized’ or larger parts of their body. All people can experience it even while having a rest. The researches also claim that the sweat problem of both types can be passed from generation to generation.
